Course Description
Theory and practice of the public sector; taxes, expenditures, and administration at local, state, and federal levels.
Learning Objectives
- Learn how to analyze public policies involving taxes, transfers and expenditure programs.
- Learn the impact of these policies on economic behavior of individuals and firms.
- Learn the impact on market outcomes.
- Learn tax incidence analysis, optimal taxation, and market failures from externalities and public goods.
- Apply to specific policies and programs (e.g., poverty programs, infrastructure investment, property and consumption taxation).
